QUALIFICATION OF A COMMITTED SERVANT OF GOD

QUALIFICATION OF A COMMITTED SERVANT OF GOD

7 nov. 2021

Benjamin ROGERS

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:1-7

When we hear servant of God we mistakenly think of preachers and forget about the called to Christ. The above scripture refers to anyone called by God. Also, the word commitment refers to the state of being devoted with all seriousness to a cause. Therefore, a servant of God is one called by God to be devoted with all seriousness to HIS work.

Friends, commitment is an obligation from God; that is why it occurs 164 times in the Bible.

My question to you is are you committed (married) to the church: fully devoted, making sacrificial investments of time, money, and energy to your local church? *Or are you just dating the church*: nominally involved, maintaining enough detachment so that if things don't work out the way you want, you quit?

Well, whether you’re married or dating the church, here are some of the qualifications.

1. SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATION

• You must be genuinely born again (John 3:1-5)

• You must be sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 2:20-21)

• You must be always prayerful (1Thessalonians 5:16-17)

• You must be a man or woman of good report even among unbelievers. (1 Tim 3:7 says ‘‘And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into disgrace and the snare of the devil.")

• You must possess forgiving spirit (Romans 12:17 says Do not repay anyone evil for evil. ... Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.)

2. NATURAL QUALIFICATION

• You must be an embodiment of humility (Colossians 3:12 says ‘‘Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’’

• You must be diligent (hard-working). Proverb 22:29 ‘‘Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.’’

• You must possess calmness and self- control. Proverb 25:28 says ‘‘A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.’’

• You must be clean in and out: You must be modestly and neatly dressed when representing Christ.

GOD BLESS YOU!
